How to Vote
When to Vote
Election Day is Tuesday, October 14. Voting stations will be open from 9:30am to 9:30pm. Advance Polls are open Friday, October 3; Saturday, October 4; and Monday, October 6.You can find your polling station by going to the Elections Canada website and entering your postal code. On the next page, follow the link titled "Where do I vote?"
For students in residence there will be polls set up on campus.
How to Vote
If you have received a voter information card you are on the voter list and you must bring either- your original drivers license or health card, or other government issued identification that has your name, address, and a photo; or
- two pieces of identification that have your name, one of which has your address (for example birth certificate or library card and a bank or credit card statement); or
- swear an oath at the polling station and be vouched for by someone who is on the list of electors such as a neighbour or roommate
The list of acceptable identification can be found on the Elections Canada website.
If you are in university residence and don't have anything with both your name and residence address on it you can get a letter from a university administrator.
If you have not received a voter information card contact the returning officer for Ottawa Centre at 1-866-256-2107 or drop by the elections Canada at 453 Bank Street (Bank and Gladstone).
